Repairable Issues for My Regal Transmission 

The vast majority of these cars were sold with automatics ranging from the classic three speed Turbo-Hydramatic to the modern 6 speed Hydra-Matic. No matter when your car’s transmission was built, they all have similar parts and similar problems. Automatics use a fluid-driven torque converter to connect the engine to the transmission, while a combination of clutches, servos and fluid channels to shift gears. In newer cars, a computer and set of sensors monitor and control the whole system. If your car has a manual transmission, chances are at some point you’ll need to bring your Regal in for clutch replacement. As the link between the engine and transmission, it takes the brunt of wear and tear, rubbing off material each time it contacts the flywheel. Problems with the shift linkage, throw-out bearing and hydraulic or cable-operated clutch lever can prevent the clutch from working correctly. Although less common, failing synchro’s and shift forks can cause problems when shifting.
